They are a small factory blending old world craftsmanship with modern design and performance. One of the best ways to enhance the performance of their already amazing saxophones is with a new neck. Available in different metals and finishes, none are more impressive than the Yanagisawa Gold Plated Alto Sax Necks!
Yanagisawa Gold Plated Alto Sax Neck
The collection of Yanagisawa Gold Plated Alto Sax Neck models can be had in several configurations. All of these models utilize the “Elite Series” neck design which has the underslung octave mechanism and bracing that helps to produce a wonderful tonal core and response. There are 2 options for the gold plating:
-
-
- Gold Plated – Traditional Gold (yellow gold) look
- Pink Gold Plated – More of a Rose Gold look
-
Whether or not the color of the plating makes much difference is matter of opinion. Both play like “gold plated necks” which gives the player the “feel” that the responsiveness and resonance of the horn is enhanced.

Materials
Available in 3 materials of Brass, Bronze & Sterling Silver, the choice of material is key to getting the performance enhancement you want out of a Yanagisawa gold plated neck. Brass is the “baseline” for the following comparison. Bronze will tend to give a thicker tonal core that has more focus and warmth throughout the range. However, bronze will also add a slight resistance that will be most noticeable in the upper range of the instrument. Many players find that this resistance is small and usually become comfortable with it in very short time.
The Solid Silver gives enhanced resonance and response while not directly making the sound darker or brighter than brass. Instead, most players will find that the solid silver neck models will more enhance the performance characteristics that are native of the player and especially the mouthpiece. This usually makes the solid silver neck the favorite regardless of whether you are getting the standard finish models or the Yanagisawa gold plated alto sax neck in silver.
