Selmer Paris Series III Tenor Sax Neck
New Stock Jubilee Models
Customize your sax with a new Series III Tenor Sax Neck by Selmer Paris! All of the new necks are now based on the Jubilee Series design which feature several improvements over the “Pre-Jubilee” necks. The new Jubilee necks have been optimized for improved response and resonance due to the lighter weight key mechanism and mounting system. Selmer has also removed the “guide” that used to be attached to the tube near the octave pip. There have not been any changes to the neck tube or the tenon itself so the Jubilee models will fit non-Jubilee Selmer saxes.
Are there any Pre-Jubilee necks remaining?
No. Selmer made the switch to the Jubilee production as their only production in 2011 so by now, all of the pre-Jubilee production has been sold. The current Jubilee models are completely compatible with pre-Jubilee instruments and often perform better in the altissimo and overall response of the horn.

What Changed with the Jubilee Necks?
Overall, the improvements on the Jubilee necks had to do with weight & response. The physical neck tube and the tenon diameter were not changed meaning that a Jubilee neck WILL fit and work well on a non-Jubilee saxophone. the keywork has been modified to improve response, non-essential excess weight on the horn (which can hinder response and vibration) have been greatly diminished… all of which make the Jubilee models the best Selmer’s yet!
Series III Tenor Sax Neck Change #1 – Octave Key Shape Change
The first change on the Jubilee models is the new neck octave key. The key has been redesigned to be lighter in weight. Weight on the neck will greatly impact the neck’s resonance and response. So, by decreasing the weight of the octave key (by around 7%) helps to improve the overall vibration and responsiveness throughout the horn, but specifically in the altissimo of the sax.
Series III Tenor Sax Neck Change #2 – Octave Key Mounting Design
They also changed the mounting mechanism design on the Jubilee models that results in a much more stable and secure fitting octave key. The old design had the thicker brass of the key folded over the mounting bracket. This made it very difficult to fit the key tightly and allowed noticeable side to side movement in the key fit. The new design features fixed mounting posts underneath the key itself. This allows for much great fitting control at the point of manufacture.
Series III Tenor Sax Neck Change #3 – Octave Key Guide
Selmer actually put this change in to place a few years before the Jubilee. They used to install a “guide” near the octave pip. This guide served very little purpose and added weight to the neck that dampened vibration. So on the Jubilee models (and a few years before), Selmer removed this guide entirely.
