Kessler Custom Full Conservatory Hybrid Oboe
Composite Upper Joint – Premium Wood Lower Joint/Bell
Like our Composite model oboe, our Hybrid Oboe offers a marvelous blend of performance, quality and value. With a Full Conservatory key system and a French based bore, our Hybrid model is ideal for the intermediate advancing player. This oboe gives a wonderfully lush tone with exceptional response and tonal core. This oboe is perfect for the player who simply needs professional performance but cannot yet afford a top end oboe.
Full Conservatory Key System
Our Kessler Custom oboes offer a full conservatory key system. This includes:
- Left Hand F
- Low Bb (with vent)
- Triple Octave (semi-automatic, US standard)
- Articulated C#
- Full Ring System D Key
- D-C Banana Trill
- Left Hand G#-A Trill
The bore design of our Hybrid Oboe is based on a French design. This is identical to the design of our Composite model However, the extra weight of both the wood lower joint & bell, as well as the metal sockets will help produce a richer overall tone.
Composite & Wood “Hybrid” Concept
Our Hybrid oboe uses both composite and wood for the body. The upper joint is made from a Grenadilla & Nylon composite to provide stability as most oboe cracks happen in the upper joint. This lower joint and bell uses a premium quality unstained & treated Grenadilla wood. This helps give the oboe a perfect blend of stability and a richer, professional tone.
To provide better stability, the wood lower joint and wood bell are equipped with fully lined metal sockets to provide smooth operation and durability.
Professional Pad Setup
Our Hybrid oboe is setup with hand-cut cork pads with the exception of the Low B, Bb & Bb vent which are leather. This combination provides exceptional performance, durability and response.
Every Kessler Custom oboe we send out to a customer is not released from us unless it has been completely setup in our shop first. This is because the setup on any oboe is of the utmost importance! Sometimes, an instrument (regardless of who the manufacturer or the price point is) comes in needing 20 minutes of adjustments and then the very next one can require 2 hours!
This is why we perform our setup in our ProShop on your oboe before delivering it to you. You trust us with your purchase and we want to make sure that you are rewarded by giving you your new oboe setup flawlessly!
