Additional Information
Bore Design
The bore design of our Hybrid Oboe is based on a French design. This is identical to the design of our Composite model However, the extra weight of both the wood lower joint & bell, as well as the metal sockets will help produce a richer overall tone.
Composite & Wood “Hybrid” Concept
Our Hybrid oboe uses both composite and wood for the body. The upper joint is made from a Grenadilla & Nylon composite to provide stability as most oboe cracks happen in the upper joint. This lower joint and bell uses a premium quality unstained & treated Grenadilla wood. This helps give the oboe a perfect blend of stability and a richer, professional tone.
Metal Sockets
To provide better stability, the wood lower joint and wood bell are equipped with fully lined metal sockets to provide smooth operation and durability.
Professional Pad Setup
Our Hybrid oboe is setup with hand-cut cork pads with the exception of the Low B, Bb & Bb vent which are leather. This combination provides exceptional performance, durability and response.
Professional Setup
Every Kessler Custom oboe we send out to a customer is not released from us unless it has been completely setup in our shop first. This is because the setup on any oboe is of the utmost importance! Sometimes, an instrument (regardless of who the manufacturer or the price point is) comes in needing 20 minutes of adjustments and then the very next one can require 2 hours!
This is why we perform our setup in our ProShop on your oboe before delivering it to you. You trust us with your purchase and we want to make sure that you are rewarded by giving you your new oboe setup flawlessly!

Bought this oboe for our daughter. After a year and a half of use, it has only need minor adjustments and some cork replaced at the joints. It has done very well for a Junior High to High school age player. We’ve also found that she gets better sound from the Kessler reeds as well.
They included several items to help maintain the oboe with it. We went with the ProTec case and it was money well spent.
