Does the Finish on a Keilwerth Alto Sax Neck Impact the Sound?
This depends on who you talk to! There are many opinions on this, but if you want another opinion, take a look at Dave Kessler’s Music Blog post specifically about this top by clicking here. While this article addresses the question from an aspect of the entire horn, the general tone of the article would also apply towards just a neck as well.
Does the Material used on a Keilwerth Alto Sax Neck Impact the Sound?
Absolutely. Here we are not just talking about cosmetics but you are changing the entire metric of the argument due to the different metal. Even the process of how the metal is treated (like with the Diamond Series necks) will impact the performance of the Keilwerth Alto Sax Neck. The Solid Silver is one of the more impressive offerings as it adds more resonance and tonal presence to the horn without directly imparting any specific tonal qualities… which means that it doesn’t make your sound darker or brighter, but rather amplifies the sound that you and your mouthpiece are already putting in to it!
Please note that all Keilwerth Alto Sax Necks have to be special ordered in from Keilwerth in Germany and are not readily accessible in the USA. This list will show all options and current pricing, but delivery tends to take 1-2 months from Germany on any neck.
