Kessler Custom Intermediate Silver Trumpet
Artist Series
As a business, we have always sought to provide excellent quality instruments at affordable prices. Many times though, the music industry as a whole does not offer instruments that are both affordable and high quality for the customer’s needs. This is becoming the case with the intermediate silver trumpet. Too many “Intermediate Silver Trumpet” models are really not much more than a student model that has been silver plated. This does not give the player the quality intermediate silver trumpet that they need to progress.
So we teamed with Custom trumpet builder Tony Scodwell to find a solution to the issue. The solution:
Kessler Custom Artist Series Intermediate Silver Trumpet.
Additional Information
“Heavy” Silver Plate
Normally, silver plate on a trumpet will typically lead to a brighter tone due to its traditionally lighter weight than lacquer. It will also feel more vibrant in the hands vs. lacquer due to the fact that it is a metal on metal finish. However, we opted for the heavy silver plate (thicker coats of silver) and specifically 3 coats of it in order to increase the weight of the horn and give an amazing combination of a richer core tone while still providing the quicker response and livelier feel of the metal on metal finish.
Intermediate Model – Bell
The bell used on our intermediate silver trumpet is a 4.8″, yellow brass with a soldered bead. The soldered bead makes a huge difference in the performance of a trumpet. Soldering the bead of the bell helps it to vibrate as 1 piece of metal. If you don’t solder the bead, the brass of the bell and the steel wire inside the bead can vibrate against each other and actually cancel out the overall vibration of the bell thus negatively impacting your trumpet’s performance!
This bell produces a full tone with excellent response and projection. A very versatile performer for any style of music!
Intermediate Model – Leadpipe
The leadpipe of our intermediate silver trumpet is a Goldbrass leadpipe that is paired with a traditional squared tuning slide. The Goldbrass pipe is more durable than a traditional yellow brass pipe and provides a richer, more focused tone. We elected to go with the squared main tuning slide in order to provide more stable intonation and slotting.
Artist Series Valves
The valves used on our Artist Series trumpets are of the highest quality Stainless Steel valves that we have ever come across. The fit & finish quality of the valves rivals the absolute best valves ever made. They are tightly fit and provide amazing response and feel. They will hold their own up against the valves on $3,000+ trumpets and in many cases, still be a better valve! They are very durable holding tight feel and excellent seal to the air column of your horn.
