Jupiter Alto Flute – 1000 Series
Amazing Performance & Quality – Affordable Price
Formerly the 500 Series (517 | 519 | 521)
The Jupiter Alto Flute is one of the most amazing values on the whole flute market (not just the Alto Flute market)! This instrument features performance, quality build amazing tone and response, excellent ergonomics and offers all of it at a fraction of the cost of comparable instruments from other makers. Plainly put, the Jupiter Alto Flute is the absolute best value Alto Flute on the market!
1000 Series – Amazing Value!
The Jupiter 1000 Series is the most affordable of the Jupiter Alto Flute models. The 1000 Series uses entirely a nickel-silver body & headjoint that is silver plated as to offer a financial value. While the material combination would typically cause the 1000 Series Jupiter Alto Flute to be dubbed a “student model”, the performance of the 1000 Series is anything but! Featuring a precision-cut headjoint, the 1000 Series offers impeccable performance, tone and response.
Key-Work
The Jupiter Alto Flute has among its features a key-work design that is outstanding. The left hand for example at glance looks a bit different due to the first finger no using a traditional finger “button” but instead an elongated paddle design. While this looks a bit odd at first glance, when you put it in your hands, you will see the brilliance! This key is designed so that regardless of the player’s hand-size, the Jupiter Alto Flute is comfortable and easy to hold. Whether a young student or an advanced adult player, the ergonomic grip of the Jupiter Alto Flute ensures comfort for the player that lets them focus on playing rather than finger position!
1100 Series Model
The Jupiter Alto Flute is also available in the 1100 Series (formerly the 600 series). The 1100 Series models are the same overall design and quality as the 1000 Series with 2 main differences. The 1100 Series moves to a Solid Silver headjoint and adds a Split E mechanism. While both options are nice, they also contribute to a price increase. We feel that the 1000 Series meets the needs of many consumers due to its advanced design combined with its better affordability.
Additional Information
Straight vs. Curved Headjoints
The 1000 Series Jupiter Alto Flute can be purchased with either a Straight Headjoint or with a Straight and Curved Headjoint. In the end, there is not a definitive “better” option in this regards, but rather a personal preference. Both have their pros and cons.
Straight Headjoint
- More open in sound
- Less resistant
- Requires a full reach from the player
Curved Headjoint
- More resistant
- Can be helpful for smaller players as it brings the body of the flute closer to the player
- Players will “hear more” of the flute since the toneholes will be closer to the player – this can make the player perceive the flute to be brighter in tone
Professional Setup
Any Jupiter Alto Flute bought through our shop is not released for shipping unless it has been completely setup in our shop first. This is because the setup on the instrument is of the utmost importance! Sometimes, a flute (regardless of who the manufacturer or the price point is) comes in needing 20 minutes of adjustments and then the very next one can require 2 hours! So if you were to get 5 of the same model right out of the box, they will all play different which leads people to believe that they are “good” or “bad” instruments… but the reality is that the one that was the best out of the 5 was likely the one that needed the least amount of work and on the flip side, the “bad” flute was the one that needed 2 hours worth of adjustments!
Once the same 5 instruments are properly regulated and adjusted to perfection, they become near identical & even the pickiest of players would be challenged to pick a true “favorite” one. However, since most stores do not or even can not perform this setup, the player never knows this and is simply relying on the luck of the draw. This is why we perform our setup in our ProShop before delivering your new flute to you. You trust us with your purchase and we want to make sure that you are rewarded by giving you your ideal flute setup flawlessly!
