Di Zhao Alto Flute – DZA-100 Series
Amazing Performance Value!
Di Zhao flutes are the result of the expertise that Di Zhao has gained over his career as a professional flautist as well as on the manufacturing side of the professional flute market. With over 20 years of experience at companies such as Verne Q. Powell & Wm.S. Haynes, Di Zhao has taken his wealth of experience and poured them in to these wonderful flutes that now bare his name. The Di Zhao Alto Flute line represents the most affordable, performance value alto flutes on the market today!
DZA-100 Series
The DZA-100 Series model in the Di Zhao Alto Flute lineup is the most affordable of the line. Even though many would refer to it as a “student mode” due it being a silver-plated instrument, they are far more than that! Utilizing the same professional hand-cut headjoint designs as the rest of the Di Zhao alto flute lineup, the DZA-100 offers exceptional performance and build quality on an affordable budget.
Key-Work & Features
The Di Zhao Alto Flute has among its features a exceptionally well crafted key-work with pointed arm construction on an entry level price! On top of that, the 100 Series includes popular performance upgrades such as the Split E mechanism, rollers on both the thumb and D#, and includes both straight and curved headjoints by default! All of this at a student price point makes this instrument an easy decision for anyone in need of an exceptional alto flute!
Piccolo Bundle
Every great flute needs a great piccolo! Well, not really “NEEDS” but let’s be honest, what player doesn’t want a piccolo of the same caliber? However, good piccolos tend to be more expensive than good flutes! So, in order to provide you with a better value, we allow you to bundle one of our own Kessler Custom Artist Series Composite piccolos for FREE!!
Make sure that you select it at the time of the order! Check it out below:
Additional Information
Straight vs. Curved Headjoint
The Di Zhao alto flute lineup includes both straight and curved headjoints by default. In the end, there is not a definitive “better” option in this regards, but rather a personal preference. Both have their pros and cons.
Straight Headjoint
-
- More open in sound
- Less resistant
- Requires a full reach from the player
Curved Headjoint
-
- More resistant
- Can be helpful for smaller players as it brings the body of the flute closer to the player
- Players will “hear more” of the flute since the toneholes will be closer to the player – this can make the player perceive the flute to be brighter in tone
With any model of Di Zhao alto flute, you get both styles.
Professional Setup
Any Di Zhao Alto Flute bought through our shop is not released for shipping unless it has been completely setup in our shop first. This is because the setup on the instrument is of the utmost importance! Sometimes, a flute (regardless of who the manufacturer or the price point is) comes in needing 20 minutes of adjustments and then the very next one can require 2 hours! So if you were to get 5 of the same model right out of the box, they will all play different which leads people to believe that they are “good” or “bad” instruments… but the reality is that the one that was the best out of the 5 was likely the one that needed the least amount of work and on the flip side, the “bad” flute was the one that needed 2 hours worth of adjustments!
Once the same 5 instruments are properly regulated and adjusted to perfection, they become near identical & even the pickiest of players would be challenged to pick a true “favorite” one. However, since most stores do not or even can not perform this setup, the player never knows this and is simply relying on the luck of the draw. This is why we perform our setup in our ProShop before delivering your new flute to you. You trust us with your purchase and we want to make sure that you are rewarded by giving you your ideal flute setup flawlessly!
