Bach 180S Series Professional Trumpets
Silver Plate
The Bach 180S Stradivarius Professional Trumpet has been the world’s most recognized, most played on and most respected professional trumpets. The Bach 180S uses a time proven traditional design to give players a true, professional trumpet that can go anywhere and play anything!
True Bach
Back in 2007, Bach’s parent company, Conn-Selmer, decided to return back to the older, traditional manufacturing techniques and methods. They returned to original designs used by Vincent Bach and crafting techniques used back in Mt. Vernon in order to return the Bach 180S to it’s rightful place as the world’s finest professional trumpet.
“Every Bach 180S Stradivarius Trumpet is completely inspected and tested in our Bach ProShop to guarantee it’s quality. Any Bach 180S that does not meet our standards is sent back to Bach.”
Dave Kessler

Bach 180S Screening Process
Bach 180S trumpets are made by hand. Even with the improved manufacturing techniques that Bach returned to, this inevitably will create some variance. So with every Bach 180S that comes in our shop, Dave Kessler personally inspects every single one. He checks for structural defects, cosmetic defects and assembly defects. The vibration of the instrument to ensure that the trumpet is a responsive horn. If a Bach 180S is assembled poorly, this results in unnecessary stress in the solder joints that actually hinder vibration and in turn, negatively affects the performance of the Bach 180 trumpet. The most important test of the trumpet for Dave is the vibration test. If a horn doesn’t vibrate well itself (outside of even playing the horn), then it will not be a great playing trumpet.
If a Bach 180S fails ANY of our tests is sent back to Bach, period.
Trial Policy
We go through great lengths to ensure that our Bach 180S Stradivarius Trumpets are AMAZING instruments. We are going to send you a Bach 180S that is the epitome of what a Bach Stradivarius trumpet should be. You are going to get a great playing trumpet.
However, in the end we are all different people and we all have different needs

This is why we give you a trial period. When you get a new Bach 180S from Kessler & Sons Music, it is accompanied by a 3 day evaluation period. Once you receive it, you have 3 days to test the trumpet yourself. If for ANY reason you are not 100% satisfied with it, you simply let us know and you send it back for a refund or exchange, your choice.
We have an unbelievably low return rate on Bach 180S trumpets specifically because we go through the process to get you a great horn! No other shop out there goes through the lengths that we do for you!
*special order models cannot be returned unless there is a flaw.
Bach Bell Options
Bach offers many different bell options. However, there are some that we recommend more than others. Plus, after the return to the original designs back in 2007, many players are actually quite unfamiliar with the bells and how they perform today.
The Bach 180S trumpet is the standard weight body and bell. This model is designed to be a great “all around” trumpet. With the proper assembly, the Bach 180S will vibrate freely for excellent response and provides one of the most versatile professional trumpet platforms on the market. For this reason, we generally recommend the #37 bell. The #37 bell built on the original design gives the Bach 180S an even all around performance with exceptional core and response. It is broad and sweet, but can project and sizzle when pushed.
For 90% of players, the Bach 180S pairs best with the #37 bell.
The Bach 180S is available standard in one of 3 bell models. However, Bach does allow for other models to be custom configured. If you are interested in custom ordering a Bach, please give us a call. The standard bell models on the 180 are:
- #37: The most versatile with great flexibility for all musical styles
- #43: Tighter and projects more, but is also brighter. Great for lead jazz.
- #72: The most open & broad sound. Sweet and mellow, but doesn’t sizzle as easily.
Bach 180 Series vs. 190 Series
Bach Stradivarius trumpets are now available in both the 180 and 190 Series horns. Both series are hand-made side by side in the same facility in Elkhart, Indiana. The core difference between these series has to do with the valve cluster.
- Bach 180 Series: Standard 1 Piece Valve Casings made from brass
- Bach 190 Series: 2 Piece Valve Casings with Nickel-Silver or Bronze Upper Balusters
The 190 Series are in the end heavier at the valve block. This will give these models a richer core to the sound of the horn, but at the same time are more expensive to manufacture. The 190 Series is also more limited in their options and cannot be customized. The 180 models can be custom configured.
