1957 Selmer Mark VI Tenor Sax
Includes new-style Selmer Paris Case (made by BAM)
Serial 73,236 Mark VI Tenor Sax – Matched Serial Number Neck
This particular Mark VI Tenor Sax is serial number 73,236 and is an original lacquer horn – or at least the lacquer that remains on it is original! It appears that someone intentionally stripped the lacquer from the neck tube (though the key has lacquer) and the “user accessible” areas of the bell – but left the inside of the bell alone. The bell still has some lacquer in the areas around the bell tone holes, the key guard and the back side of the bell. The bow & body still have good amounts of lacquer remaining, but also have large areas where lacquer has been worn.
In the end though, the “bones” of the horn were in good shape with no major damage ever sustained. So now that the horn now has gone through our ProShop Overhaul (as described below), if you are looking for an early Mark VI Tenor Sax that will knock your socks off but can’t justify the $10k-$15k price range, then this horn is exactly what you are looking for.
Original Mouthpiece, Newer Case
The Original Selmer Soloist C* mouthpiece is included and is in great shape. The case is a newer style Selmer Paris case that they would include with a Reference series sax. The case has one small tear on the back but otherwise, the case is in like new condition. The case is made by BAM and is based on the BAM “Softpack” case design.

Don’t let that be you!
